Woman accused of plowing over a CORPSE while driving through crime scene in Texas
A 26-year-old woman from Texas was apprehended following a reckless drive through a crime scene, where she struck a man’s body after it had already been killed in an earlier collision.
Details of the Incident
The man, aged 61, was found lying in the street due to a prior accident under investigation. According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, he was walking across the road when a side mirror of another vehicle struck him, sending him to the ground.
Before the body was secured, a second driver failed to stop in time and accidentally ran over the victim. The initial crash drivers were not suspected of any errors, police stated. The man’s identity has not yet been released.
Intoxication and Aftermath
“Khat is a plant that’s native to Africa,” Salazar explained. “It actually is a stimulant. It gives them a sense of bravado.”
Spears was later found to be under the influence, though the exact substance remains uncertain. Authorities discovered she was carrying khat during the incident.
Despite the caution tape, Spears drove through the scene and collided with the body while investigators were on site. Salazar noted that her actions narrowly avoided harming the officers.
“I’ve been doing this job 33 years now and never heard of somebody barreling through a crime scene like that and running over a dead body that’s already on the roadway,” Salazar added.
He emphasized that the victim’s pain tolerance had been heightened by the plant, but the situation was still described as unfortunate.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Spears was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, abuse of a corpse, and possession of a controlled substance. She posted a $14,100 bond and will appear in court on March 30, as reported by Law & Crime.
