Authorities have begun a murder investigation after a female body was found near a private members’ club along the River Thames. A 44-year-old man has been taken into custody as the primary suspect.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to Phyllis Court Drive just before 8:00 am on Friday, where the deceased was located. The club’s website confirms it is currently closed, with heightened police activity reported in the vicinity.
“The inquiry is still in its early stages, yet an arrest has been made. We are not currently pursuing other individuals linked to the incident,” stated Detective Inspector Rob Underhill.
Officers arrived at the scene shortly before 8:00 am, uncovering the woman’s remains. A statement from the police force emphasized the ongoing search and the presence of uniformed officers in the area.
“We have initiated a murder inquiry after the woman’s death in Henley-on-Thames. At approximately 7:50 am today, officers were called to Phyllis Court Drive following the discovery. A 44-year-old local man has been detained on suspicion of murder. A scene watch is active, and police presence will remain elevated during the investigation. At this time, the victim’s identity has not been officially confirmed,” said a spokesperson.
