Hundreds evacuated as fire rips through German nightclub
A fire broke out at K Club, a nightclub in Kehl, southwest Germany, prompting the safe exit of approximately 750 individuals on Saturday night. The incident occurred around 3:45 am, with flames rapidly spreading throughout the entire building. All attendees managed to flee the premises without injury, though three were treated by emergency services on-site.
Blaze spreads quickly, evacuation proceeds smoothly
Images shared by German media revealed a large fire consuming the rooftop of the club, which is located in an industrial part of the city. The club, known for its focus on hip-hop and Afrobeat music, often attracts visitors from Alsace, including residents of Strasbourg, the closest French city across the Rhine.
“K Club is a popular venue for cultural events in the region,” said a statement from the German press agency DPA. “Its unique blend of music genres draws a diverse audience, particularly from nearby French communities.”
Authorities have begun an investigation to identify the origin of the fire, which remains unclear. The event follows a similar tragedy in the Swiss resort town of Crans-Montana, where a fire last year killed 41 people and injured 115. Unlike that incident, the evacuation process in Kehl appeared to be efficient and orderly.
