Man jailed after grooming girl he met on Roblox

Carlo Tritta, 19, has received a 28-month prison sentence for sexually grooming a 14-year-old girl he encountered on the Roblox platform. The offense involved repeated messages encouraging the teenager to share explicit images of herself. Det Supt Rod Kenny of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary highlighted that the victim, from Greater Manchester, believed she was in a loving relationship, yet it was built on manipulation and abuse.

Tritta, based in Eastleigh, Hampshire, confessed to creating indecent images of a child, engaging in sexual communication, and compelling the girl (aged 13-15) to observe a sexual act. He also admitted to intimidating a witness and causing property damage after traveling long distances to her home to try to get her to abandon the case. Judge Kieran Rankin noted that Tritta was aware of the girl’s age early on and that his behavior significantly affected her and her family.

The case emerged when the girl’s mother discovered a message on her daughter’s phone in August 2025. Tritta and the girl initially met during a game on Roblox 11 months prior. At the time, the girl claimed to be 15, but later revealed she was 14 in December 2024. Tritta, who was 18 when they first connected online, lured her into more personal communication by using WhatsApp and Snapchat, professing his affection. He also sent food and a secret phone to her residence.

“The young girl in this case thought she was in a loving relationship but it was founded in coercion, control and abuse,” stated Det Supt Kenny. “The offender’s main driver was to obtain indecent images of her as a child. He used a number of methods to do that – flattery, gifts, rewards.”

Tritta was arrested and released on police bail with conditions to avoid contacting the girl or visiting her home. However, he disregarded these rules, traveling 200 miles (322km) twice to confront her. During these visits, he damaged the doorbell camera and entered the house. He also sent two cards, urging her not to support the prosecution and reporting her family to social services. Tritta falsely accused her mother of having drugs in the home.

In a court statement, the victim described feeling trapped and distressed, fearing to go downstairs at night because she believed Tritta might be there. Her mother added that the family had become “constantly on edge,” with their home no longer feeling safe. The daughter now undergoes therapy to manage the anxiety and stress caused by the ordeal.

Karina Lyon from the Crown Prosecution Service emphasized that Tritta exploited the young girl for his own sexual satisfaction. “His actions have caused fear and anxiety for the young victim and her family,” Lyon stated. “Not only is Tritta a sexual predator, but he has also displayed deeply troubling behavior by visiting the girl’s address despite bail conditions, damaging property, and interfering with witnesses.”

A Roblox spokesperson expressed sadness over the incident, stating, “With more than 144 million daily active users on Roblox, cases of harm are rare, but we know any incident of harm is one too many. We are committed to building safeguards to prevent such occurrences. Roblox requires age checks for communication, limiting interactions to users of similar ages or those already known. Our policies strictly prohibit child exploitation and include systems to block image sharing, restrict chats for younger users, and prevent personal information exchange.”
