Dan Walker to appear at tribunal as ex co-host brings bullying claim

Former Co-Host Files Bullying Claim Against Dan Walker
TV presenter Dan Walker is set to attend an employment tribunal as a result of a legal action initiated by his former Channel 5 News co-host, Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije. The case alleges that Vanderpuije experienced bullying during her time working with Walker. ITN, the production company behind Channel 5 News, and its parent organization Paramount are also listed as respondents to the claim, as confirmed by Vanderpuije’s legal representative.
According to The Mail on Sunday, the ex-BBC Breakfast host is accused of exhibiting sexist behavior and promoting misogyny. The ITN spokesperson stated that the allegations are “fully denied,” emphasizing the company’s stance. Both Walker and Paramount have yet to formally comment on the case, though the newspaper reports that Walker has gathered over 50 character witness statements to support his defense.
“This claim, which is denied in full, will be addressed through the tribunal process,” said an ITN representative.
It is understood that an earlier internal review of the allegations against Walker did not substantiate any misconduct. The trial, scheduled to commence in London on 20 April, is expected to last for five weeks. Vanderpuije, who previously co-hosted with Walker on Channel 5 News starting in 2022, left the station in 2024. ITN CEO Rachel Corp is also named as a respondent in the lawsuit.
Background on the Parties Involved
Dan Walker, known for his appearances on Strictly Come Dancing, has been a prominent figure in UK television. Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije, prior to her departure from Channel 5 News, was a well-established BBC Breakfast host. The tribunal now serves as the platform for her to address the claims of workplace bullying and gender-based discrimination.
