Child Dies in Suspected Dog Attack, Police Confirm
Cleveland Police confirmed that a child’s life was lost in what is believed to be a dog attack. The incident occurred at an address on Hardale Grove, in Dormanstown, Redcar, shortly after 13:30 BST. Officers responded to the scene following reports of a child in distress.
Upon their arrival, the child was already deceased, and authorities suspect the cause of death was a dog bite. One canine was found dead on the street, while another was taken into custody at the property. The BBC has sought details about the child’s age and the breeds involved in the attack.
Investigation Underway, Family Supported
Redcar and Cleveland District Commander Emily Harrison stated that officers are still at the location to investigate further. “This is a deeply upsetting event, and we are with the child’s family in their grief,” she said. Harrison urged anyone with information to contact police.
“Understandably this is a distressing and tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the child’s family,” Harrison added. “I would encourage anyone who has concerns or information to please speak to an officer.”
