Woman Identified in Shooting at Rihanna’s Los Angeles Home
Los Angeles law enforcement officials confirmed on Monday that Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old woman from Florida, is the individual accused of firing shots at Rihanna’s residence in Southern California. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, around 1:15 p.m., at a property in Beverly Crest, a neighborhood north of Beverly Hills, where the pop superstar was staying with her partner, A$AP Rocky, and their children.
Ortiz allegedly approached the home in a vehicle and began shooting, according to police reports. The front gate of the residence displayed signs of damage from the gunfire, though no injuries were reported. A car matching the description of Ortiz’s vehicle was later found in Sherman Oaks, leading to her arrest during a traffic stop, as stated by LAPD sources.
Ortiz was taken into custody at 2:20 p.m. on Sunday and officially processed into L.A. County jail after approximately 2 a.m. on Monday. Her bail was set at $10.225 million. The suspect’s social media accounts are tied to an Illinois native who claims to work as a speech therapist in Florida, according to state records.
“You’ll be socked on the nose tonight,” Ortiz reportedly texted her ex-husband prior to the incident, according to an arrest affidavit. The message came during a tense encounter on June 25, 2023, when the man dropped off their children at Ortiz’s apartment. Cellphone footage from the scene showed Ortiz using a homophobic slur against him.
State documents confirm that a woman with the same name holds a valid speech-language pathologist license, issued on March 17, 2015, and set to expire on December 31, 2027. Ortiz also has prior arrest records linked to Florida. Senior Breaking News Reporter Samantha Cookinham is an NBC News assignment editor.
